Nut Lab #8 ı Discover our social cycling routes
One of the activities I enjoy most in my free time is being able to organise social cycling rides. Not only do I get to spend time with friends and colleagues, but I also get to meet a lot of other people who share my passion for cycling. Some of them haven't been cycling for a long time, so these social outings are perfect for them to get to know new routes near the Barcelona metropolitan area. And also, of course, to meet other enthusiasts with whom to share these routes.
From the very first minute it was clear to me who I wanted to share this adventure with. So, after asking around, these social outings could go ahead with the organisation of the Secrets by Fargas restaurant and the leading cycling clothing brand in Barcelona, Twenty One Cycling. Amazing!
Starting point and route description.
Before the start of the ride, we all met at Secrets Bonanova, where we enjoyed a delicious coffee accompanied by healthy and natural options, such as fruit juices, perfect for an intense pre-workout (and even afterwards).
The usual for these outings is to ride between 30 and 40km, with between 700 and 1000 metres of elevation gain. We ride up the Vallvidrera road to the village of Vallvidrera. Then, we go down the road to Valldoreix and turn off at La Rierada, in order to climb up the Molins road to Barcelona. On many occasions we climb up to the Collserola tower to end up descending along the Rabassada to the city.
Difficulty and pace of the ride
We could say that it is of an intermediate level, although it tends to be quite variable. Normally, everyone rides at their own pace and waits for us at the top of the passes, in strategic places so as not to stop or bother the drivers. But what I always say to you: "The important thing is to be able to get out of your comfort zone, improve and enjoy yourself". So that's what we're here for!
At the end of the ride, Twenty One offered a special gift to each participant to celebrate the cycling culture and continue to spread the passion for the sport in the brand's hometown.
Are you up for the next one?
